Description: Presented is a fabulous English Georgian sterling silver salver or serving tray. This piece dates to 1829. The surface of the tray is beautifully hand chased with ornate floral and foliate decoration, around a central cartouche. Engraved in the center is a nice crest of a lion rampant beneath an eagle's head emerging from a crown, above a banner with the motto "Je Tourne Vers l'Occident" or "I turn towards the west." This crest is associated with the Westropp family name. The tray stands on three onslow style scroll feet, and has an applied shell and scroll rim. This piece is in great overall condition. There is an old solder repair on the rim, which is hard to notice. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no other repairs. This piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, the date letter o for 1829, King George III's head duty mark, and the maker's mark of WB, likely for William Bateman II or William Bruce.
