Depending upon which view you choose, the first scan will show horizontal lines and/or cross hatching marks. Rest assured, these are not on the card itself. Usually scanning problems are confined to color pictures but today it's "advanced" to black and white! Sport Star Publishing Company (SSPC), a new company challenging Topps' monopoly of publishing contemporary player baseball trading cards, flashed on the scene the summer of 1975.SSPC had a 4 year run which culminated with the production of ten booklets, each depicting a Major League Baseball team and featuring 27 different player cards inserted inside. Cards are standard 2.5" X 3.5" and are in uncut sheet form. This uncut sheet was removed from an SSPC magazine issued in 1975. The individual cards are sometimes carefully cut to standard 2-1/2" X 3-1/2" size, the two 9-card panels mounted in 1-page sheets or simply left intact. It is a picture of all-time baseball great Ted Williams with The Baseball Hobbyist's Steve Mitchell at a 1983 Connecticut sports collectors gathering - Ted's very first-ever collector event. On the second day of the show "The Splendid Splinter" visited with collectors and dealers and graciously posed for this photo.
