He would dare the perils of strange tribes and stranger creatures -- even dicker with those strange aliens from beyond the skies, though the concept of another world was unknown to the inhabitants of the disk-shaped planet of Mesklin. But in spite of the incredible technology of the strangers and without regard for their enormous size, Barlennan had the notion of turning the deal to an unsuspected advantage for himself . . . all in all a considerable enterprise for a being very much resembling a fifteen-inch caterpillar! Condition: Binding - very good, exlibrary copy but the only exlibrary markings are a discard stamp on the title page (see picture above) and some pencil notations on the copyright page, book has new endpapers, top and bottom of spine bumped, cloth a little worn and soiled, page edges a bit soiled (no library stamps on the page edges). Dust jacket - none, as issued. Note on first editions: If this book is listed as a first edition, it will also be a first printing. We do not consider later printings to be first editions. We know the difference between a publisher's edition and a book club edition and will always disclose book club editions. If we aren't sure, we will so indicate. Note on condition descriptions: In our written descriptions, we use the standard professional bookseller's condition grading on our items (fine, near fine, very good, good, poor). We believe that you deserve to know exactly what you will be getting if you buy our item. We describe each item carefully. If the condition description doesn't mention a remainder mark or ex-library markings, they do not exist. No hidden reserve on auction items. If you bid our starting price and are the only bidder, the item is yours. See our other auction and store items for lots of autographed first edition and collectable books. We specialize in Science Fiction and Fantasy but also have general fiction, mystery and nonfiction. We usually have over 400 autographed Easton Press books available for purchase. Payment: We accept all forms of PayPal Payment. Unless a delay in payment is agreed to by us before purchase, payment is expected within 48 hours of our sending an invoice. Buyers taking more than 48 hours to pay without that agreement will not receive feedback. Note:Paying with a PayPal echeck (bank or other financial institution transfer) will delay shipping until PayPal informs us that the transfer has completed. This can take 4 or 5 days for US banks (occasionally longer) and up to 2 weeks for international (usually more like 11 days). Payment by PayPal funds or credit card gets immediate shipping. Shipping and Packing: General Information: We always ship in sturdy new boxes with premium heavy duty packing tape, bubblewrap and filler to keep the item away from the sides of the box, unless requested otherwise. Click on the 'Shipping and payments' tab near the top of this item to see the options and costs for shipping this item to your location. The different shipping options we use are described below. All shipments will include delivery confirmation. Shipments valued at $250 and over will have to be signed for where that shipping option is available (all US and some international destinations). If the item will be shipped to a California address, please see the note below on Sales Tax. Combined Shipping: We are happy to combine shipping on multiple items and will charge you only a small amount over the actual postage cost to pay for packaging materials. Please wait for us to invoice you before paying for multiple items. Shipping to US Destinations: We normally ship items using the US Post Office. If you would prefer a different shipping method or carrier, let us know. Media Mail Least expensive See our Shipping Q&A for information on qualifying media material Cannot contain non-qualifying material Price based on weight only Surface mail Two days to two weeks for the 48 contiguous states Four to eight weeks for AK, HI, APO/FPO and other overseas USPS service locations Priority Mail More expensive but faster Air mail Usually only a few days to anywhere USPS delivers Price based on weight, box dimensions and distance Fixed rate priority books must fit USPS supplied box 11" x 8.5" x 5.5 for standard books 13.625" x 11.875" x 3.375 for large format books Some extra large books will not fit will be used when less expensive than regular priority a refund of difference in cost will be given if regular priority paid for Express Mail Most expensive Air mail with special handling Two days to most of the US [overnight cannot be guaranteed due to our location] Price based on weight, box dimensions and distance Shipping to International Destinations: We are happy to ship to international destinations and have shipped items to many countries around the world. Please note that the USPS no longer offers any international surface shipping methods. We have resumed shipping by First Class Mail International to the following countries for lower cost items because tracking is again being provided; Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. eBay frequently overcharges for International Postage, we will refund excess shipping paid once the label is printed and we know the final cost. First Class Mail International Cheapest international shipping option Will use for shipments under $100 to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, United Kingdom Air mail Okay tracking Typical delivery time is 9 to 21 days (less for Canada) depending on customs clearance Price based on weight and destination Not insured. Priority Mail International Air mail Generally good tracking (depending on destination) Typical delivery time is 6 to 10 days Price based on weight and destination Default indemnity coverage up to $200 included We pay the cost to insure shipments valued over $200 (where available) Fixed Rate Priority International Usually more expensive than regular PMI Books must fit USPS supplied box 11" x 8.5" x 5.5 for standard books 13.625" x 11.875" x 3.375 for large format books Some extra large books will not fit will be used when less expensive than regular priority a refund of difference in cost will be given if regular priority paid for Express Mail International Most expensive Better tracking Air mail with special handling Typical delivery time 3 to 5 days Price based on weight and destination Up to $100 of insurance included Shipping cost for more expensive items will include full insurance coverage (where available) A Note On Customs: When customs forms are required for a shipment, we fill them out honestly, stating that the contents are merchandise and giving the price you paid for the item (not including the shipping) as the value. Please do not ask us to do otherwise. Take any customs duty that you will have to pay into consideration before making your purchase. Please note that many countries have restrictions on the import of certain goods and sometimes on the maximum value that can be shipped to the country by various shipping methods. Priority Mail International insurance cannot be purchased for all countries and some limit the amount of insurance that can be purchased (default indemnity coverage seems to apply to all countries). Details on shipping conditions by country can be found on the United States Post Office web site. Shipping History: We have shipped well over 6,000 packages (containing more than 10,000 items), with more than 1000 of those packages going to international destinations, since we started selling in 2002. We have not had a report of a book damaged in transit since shortly after we started selling (it took us a couple of damaged shipments to learn how to package books properly to be sure they wouldn't get damaged). In the first years, our exprience was that the post office would lose a package about every one to two years. Then the post office put better tracking measures in place and it has been well over 10 years since a customer has reported a lost shipment (packages do still occasionally get sorted incorrectly, delaying delivery but that is fairly rare). Sales Tax Beginning January 1, 2019, eBay will start collecting sales tax on items being purchased for shipment to states that have passed legislation requiring that sales tax be collected on items being sold for shipment to their state. This is being done by eBay, I have no control over it. At the present time, I will still be responsible for collecting California Sales tax on items shipped to a California address. Unless you are a reseller with a valid California Seller's Permit buying this item to resell, we are required by California law to collect sales tax for all items shipped to or delivered to addresses in California or picked up from our location. The checkout system cannot handle the complexities of sales tax in California where the sales tax rate varies by where the item is being delivered. We have setup the shipping calculator to charge sales tax at 9.00% for those who do not want to wait for us to invoice you. If you wait for our invoice, we will adjust the sales tax to be correct for the location you say we will be shipping to. California resellers need to provide us with your permit number before we can remove the sales tax from your invoice. signedbyPoulAnderson signedbyHalClement
