Description: I have a good early Stanley No.4 1/2 plane for sale. This plane is old without an early PAT date on the sole and no forward aft adjuster on the frog. It has a PAT 19-92 on the iron.. an old guy with brass nuts and small brass adjuster. The rear tote and front knob have wear but hold well. The tote looks to have been shaved down slightly on the bottom... it could be a very old replacement... Im not sure.. it holds well. The lever cap looks original and is a keyhole style and has a S on the back. It works well but has some metal loss on the font edge. The lateral lever has some PAT dates and has some slop and could do with a good peen to tighten it.. (it is pretty loose)... using a flat punch. The iron looks good and has good steel and good length. The sole of the plane has a small crack on the edge of the mouth. It has an initial on one side snd some metal loss front and back on one side.The japanning has wear. This is a plane that could be cleaned up more and refinish. It looks correct and is in original as found- cleaned up condition. It feels good in the hand and should sharpen well. It has some wear issues due to age and is priced alot lower because of the wear and metal loss..Thank you.
