Description: OVERVIEW: Here’s a dated 1849 gold & hairwork bracelet. The ornate clasp features extensive hand-engraved decoration and features a locket or hair compartment (there is no glass). The back of the clasp is engraved, “To Eliza From Her Sister Mary 1849”. The hairwork is quite nice--I see at least 3 different colors of hair and several weaving styles. A fine early Victorian example. MARKS: unmarked, tested & guaranteed 10K DIMENSIONS: wearable size approx. 6 1/2”; width of hair 7/8” WEIGHT: 15.79g CONDITION: very good condition for such a piece! no damage or repairs to the clasp; the hairwork is also very good, with just a bit of minor fraying as shown; it looks like the bracelet has been in storage for a while--its resting position is how it looks in the photos (it could probably be reshaped by leaving it on an oval form for a time) * * * NOTE: eBay’s new listing form sometimes fills in item specifics that I did not select.
