Description: A very sweet antique small Staffordshire figure of a country mother holding her swaddled baby. This piece is undoubtedly produced from the same Staffordshire molds used to make the Farmers wife of the highly sought after and humorous "Tithe Pig" group in which the farmer is offering his required 1/10th tithe to the parson, including his tenth child. In very good antique condition with fine crazing and a professional repair to a small area of the base (see photos). The repair is difficult to notice but was confirmed under black light. It is a Victorian Era piece likely produced between 1860 and 1880. Acquired from the collection of a long time Staffordshire collector and dealer who founded the Staffordshire Figure Association and has had her pieces featured in major publications like Staffordshire Figures 1780-1840 by Myrna Schkolne. Approximate dimensions are 3 1/2" tall x 1 5/8" wide x 1 1/2" deep.
