NOTES ON Thorogood DVD: Great riffs & songs! This DVD is really a good intro to standard blues slide, open tunings as well as general blues George Thorogood style. But these are classic rockin Blues songs that can be even be played acoustic players but is very fun electric with a bit of overdrive to dirty things up and add sustain. As in most blues the songs normally have just a few chords but the key is in the tunings, the notes being picked, the right hand rhythm technique as well as the real 'blues feel' that keeps the blues enthusiast playing for hours on end. Who Do You Love covers Open E tuning and the Bo Diddley Beat as well as standard blues progression and it basic alternate. After tuning back to standard for I Drink Alone and 1 Bourbon/Scotch/Beer for some non-slide based down home blues riffs we go back to slide and alt tunings with Open G with Bad to the Bone. Then we go into Open D tuning on the blues standard with 'The Sky is Cryin' done in true Thorogood manner as a true slide blues primer.
