With all due respect to Capitol Mastering; which is unquestionably noted as exceptional, this Vee-Jay record is HOTTER and PUNCHIER than the Capitol Re-issues after Capitol stopped Vee-Jay from manufacturing their early hits. Paul McCartney, who was never happy that the sound of his bass couldn't be made more prominent like bassist James Jameson's Motown recordings, would be thrilled with this Vee-Jay release; which probably got an American mastering tune-up from the clinically dry English records before pressing this vinyl. The blend of John & Paul's voices have what Dylan described of his Blonde on Blonde sound: "Thin mercurial sound". They sound like The Everly Brothers from out of space. Fantastic. That's the sound you need to hear to truly understand Beatlemania. Nothing beats the sound on this record. ALSO: Notice that John's harmonica on the end of "Thank You Girl" was removed and sounds stronger.
