He was born in Duluth , Minnesota, but later moved to Europe where he established himself as an artist. He was first based in Paris where he was a member of the "Jeune École de Paris" (with Karel Appel, Debre, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Antoni Tapies, Dumitresco, Messagier, Zanartu , etc.) and later moved to Barcelona."
