Handmade in Italy by Ser Jacopo This is a very interesting rustic carved ( R1) Bent Cavalier with a briar stem inlay. It's a good sized piece but is not a MAXIMA. I has a deep bowl so one should expect a good long smoke. The pipe is rustic carved throughout except for the two nomenclature panels on either side of the shank. It's light weight and fits nicely in the hand. That and the fact it's a Ser Jacopo assures delicious and lengthly smokes! The R1 designation has been used since the early days (though not the earliest days) of the Ser Jacopo workshop. The designation indicates a pipe with a rustic carved finish. The pipe could come in a variety of stains from fairly light to almost black. Often there were two stains, with the top stain buffed in places to let the lower color be seen for contrast. The pipe pictured is the pipe you will receive.Purchase is for the pipe only, no box and no sleeve.The stem of this pipe is handmade from Lucite / acrylic / plexiglas and will not tarnish.The pipe will be packed with the stem separated from the bowl for safety and shipped insured.This pipe DOES NOT use a filter.
