Up for sale - newly designed replacement for the ALPS Selector switch SW01 (Sansui P/N 1103550) on the equalizer circuit board (Sansui P/N F-2541) used in the Sansui 8080 and 9090 receivers. This is the switch that is used: To select which input is selected (Phono, FM, FM-DB, AM, AUX). For lamp switching control. For 12V switching for tuner control. The original ALPS switch assemblies are getting old and once they fail, your Sansui 8080/9090 is out of commission. And, of course, they are impossible to find! If you have the original Sansui/ALPS switch in your receiver, its contacts have degraded over time and the contacts can only be cleans so many times. Even then, the contacts are worn and the whole thing should be replaced. That's where my SW01K comes in! Typical symptoms of failure of this switch are that some inputs channels are not working or are intermittent and some lamps do not work, even when replaced by new lamps. Signal attenuation or poor audio quality is also possible. The original Sansui/ALPS SW01 is shown for reference only and is NOT included. The test fixture in the second picture is not included - shown for reference. Only the items shown in the 3rd and 5th pictures are included. I designed this device to be a 'drop in' replacement for the original SW01 part used on the F-2541 circuit board. I used modern, high reliability, hermetically sealed components for signal, lamp and voltage switching. I use a electro-mechanical rotary switch to control my switch module, but all signal, lamp and voltage switching is accomplished using hermetically sealed, silver alloy with gold alloy overlay contacts having 100m Ohm (0.1 Ohm) initial contact resistance. Replacement requires soldering and de-soldering skills. Step-by-step instructions, solder and solder wick are provided - everything you need except basic hand tools and a soldering iron. If you are restoring a Sansui 8080/9090 receiver, this is a great opportunity to replace the old SW01 with this new modern part! It's only a matter of time before the original part fails... Note 1: This switch assembly is intended to correct input select (Phono, FM Auto, Dolby FM Adapter, AM, AUX) and lamp drive problems. It will not correct other problems within the receiver. Before proceeding, confirm that the receiver is otherwise operating properly and perform proper troubleshooting to confirm that this switch assembly will correct the problem(s) you are experiencing with your receiver. If you are not qualified to perform this troubleshooting or installation, seek a qualified electronics technician to perform the troubleshooting/installation. Note 2: The symptoms listed above can be caused by other component or subsystem failures - If you are considering this device to repair your 8080/9090, perform appropriate troubleshooting to determine that your original SW01 switch has failed and requires replacement prior to purchasing this device. I guarantee that this device will function as a drop-in replacement for the SW01, but I cannot guarantee that this will fix your 8080/9090 unless failure of the SW01 is the cause of your 8080/9090 receiver's failure. Note 3: The circuit pads and traces in this receiver are old and delicate. Removal of the original switch assembly may result in damage to circuit board pads and /or traces, especially if performed by a novice. My kit includes silicone insulated wire and instructions for circuit trace repair. This requires some rework/soldering skill. If you are not qualified to perform this process, seek a qualified electronics technician to perform the circuit board trace repairs, if required. Note 4: There may be more than one version of the SW01 in the 8080/9090 receiver. To confirm that the selector switch assembly in your receiver is compatible with the one in this listing, remove the top cover of your receiver and inspect the top of SW01 (follow the Selector shaft to locate the switch assembly). There should be a small circuit board on top of the switch with 3 wires soldered to it (Brown, White & Orange). See the last picture in this listing. If your selector switch is not identical to that shown in the picture, DO NOT purchase this item.Note 5: This switch does not mount to the front panel of the receiver, it mounts on an internal panel with a shaft extender. The shaft on my switch assembly is shorter than in the original switch, but my kit includes a custom 3-D printed shaft extender for a seamless installation.
