Description: Russian Fairy Tales, hardback, published by Perter Pauper Press–Mount Vernon/New York. Traditional Russian fairy tales as written by Arthur Ransome. Wonderfully illustrated with 12 plates by Erica Gorecka-Egan. 122 pages of writing and illustrations plus fly sheets and title page. Printed in three colors—ochre, dark teal and black. Some pages have a deckle edge, the whole book is elegant and beautifully presented. It measures 8-1/2 by 6-1/4 inches and opens along the short side to 17 inches wide. There's no date but my research leads me to believe the book was printed in 1946. One offered online has a slipcase but this one does not. The front and back covers are identical and feature the illustration also used for the Little Daughter of the Snow story. Both sides show a darkened age stain from light exposure and being stored next to books that were shorter as they stood or were stacked on the shelf. There's a little ding on the front cover top edge near the binding. Otherwise everything is in very good shape. Stories included are: The Story of SadkoThe Saucer and the AppleThe Fool and His Flying ShipLittle Daughter of the SnowThe Cat Who Was Head-ForesterThe Fire Bird and the PrincessThe Hunter and His WifeIvan the NinnyThe Story of the Stolen TurnipsA Note on Russian Fairy Tales See many other new, vintage and antique items at my other listings.
