For every container you receive one wide mouth self healing port and filtered lid. It will not come on the mason jar. The mason jar is sealed before shipping with a regular lid to prevent spillage and contamination. It is much easier to store this solution in a sealed, sterile jar. When you are ready to use the solution you can sterilize the self healing port/filtered lid and swap it with the standard mason jar lid your liquid culture container was shipped with, in your monotub or in an area your flow hood keeps sterile. You will need to supply your own mushroom culture to inoculate. We typically carry between 18 and 24 different functional variations. After inoculation store in cool dark area for a week before extracting from your new solution. Nutrient solution is good for any type of mushroom culture. Once you have introduced your selected mushroom mycelium/spores to the solution the suggested shelf life of your new solution is a year. To maximize your liquid culture’s production, store in a cool dark place for one to two weeks immediately following inoculation. Once your jar of newly inoculated liquid culture has completely filled with new mycelium growth, place your jar in the refrigerator. This temperature change will stop all growth of mycelium but it will also prevent the existing mycelium from breaking down and dying.
