Culm diameter: up to 3" Spread: running Once I receive your order, I will dig out the bamboo rhizome around 2 sq ft (about 1.5' diameter around the culm), will trim the culm to the rhizome if available or just rhizome with buds. Will ship it bare root to comply regulation and save the shipping cost. You don't really need any leaves or culm before the rhizome establish. Please plant 2-4" in ground and keep the soil moist for a few weeks. Once the plant established, it will send new shoot. Do not expect much growth in the first 1-2 year while the plant is recovering from transplant shock. NOTE:The first year the plants sleep, the second year they creep and the third year they leap. The root takes time to establish, so the first year's growth is very limited, probably just a pencil thickness. A year after, the new shoot may grow to 1" caliber and 5-8' tall. the 3rd year, the new shoot should become even bigger culm around 1.5-2" diameter and about 10-15' tall. But your mileage may vary. The older culm won't grow any bigger or taller, only the new culm will grow bigger and think during growing season.My bamboo grove took about 15 years to grow to mature height (30') & 3" diameter and starts to produce abundant & desirable size (3") of shoot due to harsh NJ climate (zone 6a) and lack of irrigation. So, depends on irrigation, fertilization and temperature, you may expect to have mature plant and ready to harvest bamboo shoot after 5 years.About Shipping:I usually ship within 48 hrs of payment.
