They could be silverplated or silver tone, stainless etc. They have surface wear, scratching, darkening, and pitting. They vary in size and shape. We try very hard to protect your purchase- books and other paper items get sent in plastic sleeves or bubble wrap surrounded by cardboard, other breakable items get packing peanuts, bubble wrap, or other protection to help avoid postal damage.
