Description: 1930s - 40s promotional hand fan advertising Wiggins Chevrolet Company with locations in Quarryville, Marticville, and Lancaster PA. I think Chevy provided the fans and individual dealerships had their info printed in one section of the back. The text on the back promotes Chevy's safety features and includes Rules for Safe Driving. The cardboard fan with rattan handle design was patented in 1934 (pat # 1994105). The front of the fan contains illustrated safety tips and the title "I'm someone's little child please drive carefully" with a central image of a little girl admiring a robin. Artwork is by one of the most popular illustrators of the 1930s, Mabel Rollins Harris. Measures about 12" with handle, about 8.5" not including handle, and about 7" wide. Condition: there is a tear along the rattan handle which goes through the illustration of the fog at the bottom of the fan, below the central color illustration. There are also a few small creases. Other than that the fan is in very nice condition, and I would not hesitate to give this as a gift. (To perhaps state the obvious: You are buying ONE fan. First photo shows back and front of the fan you are buying, NOT two fans)
